Registration of Trades Councils. — Mr Rosser gave notice of motion in favour of amending the Arbitration Act to allow the registration of Tra.les Councils. Lizht Railways. —Mr Rosser also gave notice of motion to urge the Government to open up rhe colony by means of uarrowgauge light railways, instead of the present slow costly flnes. Mensuration. —Mr Rosser gave notice of motion to discuss the Morgan block system of measuring timber. State Coal Miuss.—Mr Tyson gave notice of motion to urge the Government to acquire a State coal mine in the North. Preference to Unionists.—Mr Tyson also gave notice of motion in favour of amended legislation to compel preference of employment to be given to unionists. Compensation for Accidents.—Mr Tyson gave notice of motion in favour of amending the Workers' Compensation Act in the direction of Increasing the maximum compensation payable for death or totaJ incapacity from £300 to £COO. and also permitting the worker, as well as the employer, to ask th-e court to order that the compensation shall be paid in a lump sum.
