(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNK Sunday. The first fire in the main slreet for seven years broke out this morning, three shops being destroyed. They were occupied by Messrs. Attwood, dealer in furniture; Smith Bros., hairdressers and tobacconists; and J. Thompson, florist. WELLINGTON. Saturday. In the Supreme Court to-day Arthur Kinred was sentenced to two years' imprisonment for arson at Palliser Bay; Edward Hamer to four years imprisonment on five charges of forgery, and Hugh Kemp three months for breaking and entering a native's house. WANGANUI, Saturday. A seven-roomed residence lately occupied by Mr C. A. Dunn, at present unoccupied, and owned by Mr N-. J. Rhodes, was burned to the ground last night. The house and sheds were insured in the National, South British, and Mercantile offices for £500.
