SOUTHERN COURTS.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Monday. The Magistrate (Mr McCarthy) gave judgment for defendants in the ease of the corporation against the Southland Meat Company. The object of the proceedings was to compel the company to slaughter at the municipal abattoirs, instead of nt the Frozen Meat Company's works. The Magistrate remarked that inspection was just as complete at the latter. He consented to state a case for appeal. DUNEDIN, Monday.

The divorce case, McMaster v- lieMaster and Isidore Kino, after extending over five days, has concluded. This is the case in which Ronald McMaster, sheep farmer, petitioned for divorce from his wife, on the ground of adultery with Isidore Kino, sharebroker, Sydney. Counsel address the jury, and Mr Justice Williams summed up rather against the respondent's case, and the jury, after an absence of an hour and a-half, returned with a verdict for the petitioner. A decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute in three months, with costs against the co-respondent-WELLINGTON, Monday. A fine of £25, with £3 10/ costs, waa imposed by the Magistrate this morning in the case of Edward Harris, a steward on the Mararoa, who was found in the streets with several tins of opium in his possession.
