THE FORTE WARNED BY AUSTRIA.
BUDA PESTH, December 21
Count Goluchowski. the Imperial Chancellor, addressing the Hungarian delegation, said that Macedonia, under a Christian Governor, was inadmissible, inasmuch as such an appointment as that would provoke Mahometan resistance and tend to create another Eastern Roumelia. Further, it would destroy the balance of power in the Balkans. Austria and Russia had shown great .tenderness to Turkish susceptibilities, but Turkey must change if she wished to live. If she was unable to change herself, her interests must be managed for her. He warned the Porte to beware ot resistance, lest chaos and ruin result.
