DARING BALLOON ASCENT.
A sensational balloon ascent was made at Koubaix on Sunday, August 9, by a Hon tamer named Heuri and two aeronauts. A small cage containing two lions was placed in a specially constructed car, and when Henri entered the cage th» aeronauts installed themselves on a plauSMMe above it, and the word to let go v&a given amid tremendous excitement, lite fions soon became distressed and croucfce*! in the corners, whining piteously. A serious escape of gas half suffocated the aeronants, the lions, and the tamer, one cf the aeronauts being almost fainting when a return was made to the earth, while the lions were stretched out seemingly llftless. They - soon got better, and the ac: anatit recovered after a restorative had k-MUi applied.
