SWISS TOWN SHELLED BY ACCIDENT.
The village of Collonges, in the Yalai* district of Switzerland, has been bombarded, the Inhabitants having to flee for their lives. Without any warning shell after shell fell; many buildings, including the church, were struck, and considerable dam-age-was done. Luckily there was no loss of life, although two men were plucking cherries In the branches of a tree which was hit, while a group of peasants, working In a vineyard, had also a very narrow escape. The cause of the trouble was an experiment with some new long-range guns at the Savatan forts. The villagers have addressrd a petition to the authorities begging that the experiment may not be repeated .
