SINGULAR DISCOVERY.
A report has been received from Valdes, Alaska, of a discovery that lias very recently been made on the sjhores of Prince Wiliinim Sound. While a. prospector named James Leeds was out prospecting for gold along the coast, mih a party, they caime to the entrance of a large cave almost concealed from view by "the tains of the cliff. Leeds wintered the cavern, a,nd. on penetrating n. sfhort dn's-tance, was astonished to find 14 wooden canoes, each canoe containing a human skeleton. Stone implements were found beside the skeletons, and stomp »laibs covered the tops ol the canoes. Every thing seemed to indicate ■that the arafft and bodies hud been placed in the caves a, very long time a.go. Some expirees 'fche opinion that the bodies and canons •were placed where Leeds and 'his party ihad discovered them during fche Asre. The Indians in fhflit Tegion 'had never previously known of the existence of the ewe, nor of tlie Ihiiman remains, or ennoes, and resrnrd Wie di!«eovery with "wondeir and superstitd'ous fear. ■ ,
