ESCAPE OF A PRISONER.
FIRED AT BY A WARDER

WELLINGTON, this day.
John Mofl'att, aged 2.2, who was committed for trial on the 17th August on a charge of theft from a dwelling, escaped from the Terrace Gaol at 9.15 this morning. He scaled the wall of the exercise yard, and although fired at by a warder, continued his flight and got clear away.
