(ALLEGED DISORDERLY CONDUCT IN A HOTEL.

i A. Montgomery, licensee of the Karangaihake Hotel, was charged with allowing disorderly conduct in Ms hotel on August 5 last. Sergeant Brenman .proseouted, and Mr T. Oottea- defended. Constable Mo flit gave evidence of having been called by J. Collinson, porter of"the hotel, at 10 p.m. to quell a disturbance in the hotel, caused by ■ two men, Darragh and Sardigh, who were fighting. He went to the hotel and saw evidence of a row having taken place, and prosecuted the persons named, but the case was dismissed by the Justices. In reply to Mr Cotter, witness said it iwms not on account of Darragh and Sareigh having fought that this case avas brought, but of others of whom he knew nothing. Evidence was given by Oollinson (porter) and Hawkin (bajraman), but nothing was adduced to show that any disturbance had been permitted on the'premises; in fact it was shown that the men who were wrestling were almost immediately got out of the hotel. Tlie Magistrate dismissed the ease without asking the defence to call evidence. j| COURT CASES. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr Bush, S.M., the following cases were dealt with: —McCormick v. McKee, claim £20 commission for.sale of property. The parties wer« cousins, and their evidence was contradictory as to an alleged agreement to pay commission. His Worship held that the transaction was not an ordinary business one, being complicated by the matter of relationship, but he thought McCormick was entitled to some recompense for the trouble he had taken, and he gave judgment for £10 and costs £3 6/. Mr Clendon appeared for (plaintiff,' and Mr Porritt for defendant. James Walls v. S. Harper, for order fox possession of dwelling at Karangahake: Order made for possession within threw weeks, costs £2 13/. Defendant said he could not get another house, but the Magistrate, pointed out that the owner had the best right.
