THE REPRESENTATIVE TEAM
The team thp-t has been chosen to. represent Auckland in the contest for the Brown Challenge Shield has been practising hard during the past week, and the members are said to be perfectly fit. They have hopes of bringing back the shield with them to Auckland, and the supporters of the game believe that their prowess is enough to secure the trophy. The team plays Wellington on Wednesday next, and the winner of that round has to play the winner of the match Canterbury v. Otago for, t?_s shield on Saturday next at Wellingtoni The Southern match will be played at Christchureh, and the winners go on to WcllingtoKDugmore and Ritchie being unable td go, the following is the team:—Goal, Edmunds (Thistle); backs, S. Clark (Tabernacle) and W. Cowan (V.M.C.A); halves, Grade (Thistle), Yates (V.M.C. A.) and Meldrum (Thistle); forwards, Mayall (V.M.C.A.) and Gillespie (Thistle), right; A. Asbury (V.M.C.A.), captain of the team, centre; Clark and Sale (V.M.C.A.), left. Emergencies, Webster and Harding (V.M.C.A.) The team leaves Auckland by the Ngapuhi to-morrow for Wellington, catching the 2.10 p.m. train in town.
