The s.s. Moura sailed for Wellington last evening.
The barque Laira was docked for cleanIng and painting to-aay. The Taranaki Collieries Company's Bteamer Mangapapa. which has been purchased by the Northern S.S. Company tor their coastal trade, is quite a new vessel, having been launched at Sydney early tins year." The Ngunguru, which .as been exchanged for this vessel, leaves for OneIvunga next week, where she will be taken over by her new owners, and the Mangapapa will then be brought on to Auckland.
The following'have booked passages by the s.s. Ilauroto, sailing at 5 p.m. to-day roi- the Islands and Sydney:—Misses Kripner, Cliultzo, Kirkwood, Mcsdames Kraiiso, Davies, Murray. Marsdeu, Campbell and child. Coplcn, Burns, Messrs Murray, Marsden, G. Kronfeld. Lclth, Koss. D. P. Ctfntles. Coplen. Baifjent. Hooper, J. Burns. Captain Wheelev, Dr. C. G. Campbell, and one uteerage.
A Whangarei paper of Monday states:— "Oin» of the passengers from Auckland last night by the Wellington relays that the nia was not without exciting incidents. ShonJy after the steamer left the wharf at Auckland, the steering gear b'oke down, necessitating a stoppage of half an hour fo" repair!*. When these had Dteu effected the" vessel proceeded, but the weather became so thick and the downpour of rain so blinding that it was found necessary to bi'ing up no less thim three times during the rail down Auckland harbour. However, after leaving the Heads the weather cleared."
