FUMIGATING MAILS.

The chief postmaster, Mr Wilkins, has written to the Auckland Harbcror Board asking that a shed be provided for the fumigation of mails, as required by the Health Department. This letter was considered by the Works and Tariff Committee, with'the result that a recommendation was made to #he board yesterday that the Government be informed there is not a site available near the wharves for a fumigation shed, and the board would suggest that a hulk should be purchased for that purpose by the Government. ■ , The Chairman said it was impossible to give what was suggested.
