COROMANDEL, this day
The Coromandel County Council met yesterday. A letter wns received from Mr Thomas Hannan re costs in the case flonnan v. Council, asking that costs be remitted. Tt was resolved that the Council could not grant the request. With regard to the road to Puhoi claim, it was decided tflßt the jmatter be dealt with when further information whs received. A prospecting subsidy of £15 wns granted to Dyer and O'Keefe. Messrs Homo and Mclsaacs, the trustees of the Kuaotunu Cemetery, were granted a subsidy of £7 10/ towards fencing. Mr F. M. Cock wrote re repairs to the Matamata icad, and it was referred to the engineer to denl with, Mr Cock being informed that a further grant had been applied for. It was resolved that a special meeting cf the Council be held to discuss the system of contracting in vogue, and make such alterations as may he deemed necessary. The cleik was instructed to notify the Council's intention to strike a of sis farthings in the £ special rate, and that the collector collect three farthings in the £ on the loan special rate, that anf»nnt boing suffioiento meet all interest and sinking fund Charges. Accounts amounting to £458 5/6 were passed for payment
