The DJ3.C. annual ball was held in the Choral Hall last evening, the hail being tastefully decorated with numerous flags, evergreens, etc. About 100 couples were present, and the balcony and stage was well filled with spectators. Meredith's band provided excellent music, and the catering arrangements were all that could be desired.

During this month the Lands Department will throw open for selection 60,045 acres of land in different parts of the colony. The Auckland land (4272 acres) has already been paragraphed. In Taranaki several sections in the Rehu township. No other North Island lands are being offered.

Four of the Auckland contingent for the New Zealand football team, Messrs. Jkakor, Q. Tyler, Nicholson, and Long, left by the Rotoiti for Wellington today. Last night in the Foresters' Hall, Onehunga, big subscription ball of the eeason was held under the auspices of the ladies' committee.
