THE CABLE QUESTION.
(Received 10.24 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day.
Sir Edmund Barton lias received a letter from Mr Seddon, protesting against the agreement with the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company, which, it is maintained, is inimical to the Pacific cable, urging the Federal Government not to enter on sucli an agreement, "and contending that the contemplated change should not be made without the consent of the contracting parties to the Pacific agreement.
