ALLEGED FRAUD
CHRISTCHURCH, April 14.
In the Magistrate's Court this morning Arthur Holmee alias Holt, was charged on remand with having committed fraud in Bradford, England. Inspector Gillies stated that the Home Secretary had teen communicated with, and had cabled that the necessary papers would be sent, so that Holmes could be< sent to England for trial. The English "Police Gazette" showed the amount of the alleged frauds to be £400. A remand was requested for seven days. Mr Harris, solicitor for accused, submitted that no documents were before the court on which his client could be arrested. Holmes, ho added, had been in gaol eight days. Mr Beetham granted the remand, advising Mr Harris to apply for a writ of Habeas Corpus. Bail was allowed accused, £100 and two sureties of £ 100 each.
