The schooner May Howard was docked yesterday to have tier new oil engine placed in position. The brigantine Cairn has been chartered to proceed from Port Chalmers to Kaipara to load timber for Adelaide. After discharging a cargo of coal at the Sucar Works, the barquentine Pcndle Hill will proceed to Hokianga to load timber for Sydney. The barque Northern Chief finished her discharge of coal at Chelsea to-day. She will be docked here, aud then proceeds to Kaipara to load timber fo£_Syu-.ey. The barque Laira, loaded with timber for -delude was towed out fr_i_ the Thames. but as the wind was unfavourable, she anchored in the Gulf. The Laira sailed for Adelaide this morning, with a light south west breeze. The Union Company's new steamer, now under construction in Scotland, for the intercolonial trade, will be named the Manuka. She will be a similar vessel to the Moaraki. The s.s. Rotokino arrived at Sydney from Auckland and Island ports at 11 a.m on Sunday. having been delayed by bad weather on the passage. The steamer leave? for the Island and Auckland on Ihursday next.
