THE MARERE.

The new steamer Marere, of the Tyser line, arrived from Loudon, via Melbourne and Sydney, at 8.30 a.m., and berthed at the Queen-street Wharf shortly before 11 a.m. to-day. The Marere is a new vessel, having been launched in the latter part of last year, and is a sister ship to the Mimiro. Captain J. C. Felgate, formerly of tthe Mimiro, is in command. Of the voyage, the second officer reports:—The ■ Marere left the Royal Albert Dock, London, on January 11, and discharged the pilot the same day off Dover. Fine weather with strong N.E. wind was then experienced. Cape Ushaut being passed the next day at 030 p.m.. and Las l'almas at 9.7 a.m. on the ISth. Moderate N.E. trades were met with in lat. 20deg. N. The equator was crossed on the 23rd in long. 9.47 W. The south-east trades were picked up in lat. sdeg. S.. being moderate to fresh, with moderate to high southerly sea. The Cape of Good Hope was passed at 10.45 a.m. on February 2nd. and the run across the Southern Ocean was marked by a prevalence of foggy, weather, with N.W. to W. winds. The greatest latitude reached was s_deg. souths Cape Otway was passed at t11..« a.ni. on February 21, and arrival made at Melbourne the same afternoon. Discharged cargo at Melbourne and proceeded on to Svd.iev, llnallv leaving that port, for Auckland on March 5. Cape Maria Van Diemen was passed at 1 p.m. yesterday, and arrival made as above. Fine weather was experienced crossing the Tasman Sen. Tbe Marere sails for the South and Londoi. about Friday or Saturday.
