SCHOOL FOR MAORI GIRLS

BAZAAR IN AID OF FUNDS

OPENS TO-MORROW.

For some twelve months past a large number of ladies and gentlemen have been working energetically towards the promotion of a grand bazaar in aid of the funds for furnishing and equipping the Queen. Victoria School for Maori Girls at Parnell, and this bazaar, over which so much work and care has been expended, will be opened to-morrow afternoon in .he Metropolitan Grounds, Symonds-street, next to Government House. The idea was first taken up about a year ago by three ladies, Miss Gillies, Miss Stevenson and Miss Horton, and the co-operation of a large number of ladies from all parts of the city and suburbs was quickly secured. For the past year many hands have been busily engaged in making all manner of articles for the bazaar, and a large number of donations have been received, some in the shape of goods, and some in money, which has been applied to the purchase of goods. The consequence is that everything dear to the heart of the bazaar-goer will find a place in the stalls, which will be crammed with all sorts of useful and ornamental articles. There will be numerous stalls of all descriptions, and everything possible has been done to make this bazaar the brightest and most successful yet held in Auckland.

A "Star" reporter paid a visit to the ground this morning, and found everybody busy in getting tinners into shape for to-morrow. The white of the fonts, contrasted with the greenery on the masts, should make . very pretty picture to-morrow. The various stalls are to be located in those tents, while facing these there is a larger marquee, called the town refreshment tent, in which thero is to be a. "cafe chautant" each night, a

platform being erected for the purpose. Mr H. Gilfillan (hon. sec) and Mr F. V, N. Crombie (hon. sec), who have worked most assiduously to promote the snccess of the bazaar, are in charge of the ground arrangements. Miss O'Neill is also hon. secretary, and Miss Mowbray has charge of the decorations.
