There was fine weather for Saturday afternoon's mutches, and the night's rain had improved the wickets. Chief interest was centred in the Midland-Weliimrton match. Indications point to the downfall of the champions, who have now a lead of only five runs, with five wickets to fall.
Welliii-toii in their first Limners scored 192 (Perry 28. Richardson 18. Mahoney 18, Lntham 1"). Uphnm took 5 wickets for 79, Stephenson 3 for 58, Holdsworth 2 for 39. For Midland, whose second essay at tlie drawing of stumps realised 83 for 5 wickets. Holdsworth scored 20. Weyhourne 17, and Williams 12. Hales secured three wickets.
In the Phoenix v. Old Boyn match, Phoenix made 80 arid 193. Namrhton made 35, i:j<■ • ij rJlnj•- '' h7 for srwen, all run out. Waters fW), Price (33), Day (181, McCardoll (11). McGowan (4 for 49), Staples (3 for 23). Ralph (2 for 23), shared the bowling- honours. Old Boys scored 70 and 61 for I? wickets (Kirkeahlie 28. Staples 14 not out).
