A SWANSON SENSATION.

A man named William Stewart, a*ed 50 years, was found in the bush near Swan son yesterday morning in a dying condition, with his throat cut. Stewart had been working at a flaxmill in Waitakerei \ alley since last--/.rhursday for a man named John O'Donovan. He shared a' tent with a man named Henry Kobert Shields, but packed his swag yesterday morning at about six o'clock, preparin-! to trek. He was in the habit of l m im his meals at a boarding-house near by but his absence from the breakfast table yesterday caused uneasiness amono- % mates, and O'Donovan and two other men went to his tent to search for bun. While searching they heard groans corn* ing from the bush near the tent, and ort j.oing to investigate they found Stewart lying on the ground with his throat cut,, and evidently [dying.
