A statutory meeting of the Auckland City Council was held, this morning for the purpose of electing four members to represent the, Council on the Audiland Harbour Board. There were present: liis Worship the Mayor (Mr A. Kidd), Councillors Julian, Grey, Rosser, Patterson. Hannan, Stichbury. Parr, Glover, McLeod, Masefield, Dignan, and Court. The Mayor and Messrs. Grey, Glover, Julian and Parr were nominated for election, and the voting resulted in the first lour receiving 13 votes and Mr Parr 8 votes. The Mayor and Messrs. Grey. Glover, and Julian were therefore elected. The nominators were as follows: The Mayor by Mr Dignan, Mr Glover by Mr Patterson, Mr Grey by Mr Minefield, Mr Julian by Mr Hannan, and Mr Parr by Mr Stichbury. Mr McLeod moved, and Mr Rosser seconded, "That it would be in the'best interests of the province of Auckland if the election to the Harbour Board was on a more popular basis." This wa,s carried unanimously. It was also decided to instruct the
Town Clerk to write to the Government asking to have the law amended in the direction of having the election of members of harbour boards to take place after the date of the election of members of borough councils.
