SMOKE CONCERT.
A well attended 'smoke concert, under the auspices of tlie Auckland branch ot the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Parnell, on Saturday evening, under the presidency of Mr Frank La.wry, M.H.R. The chairman opened the proceedings by speaking of the good work which had been done by the society He hoped it would make progress, anil give satisfaction to its members. There was a short toast list, and a pleasing vocal and instrumental programme. The chairman also contributed two recitations. The other contributors were Messrs J. A. Jlekall (branch chairman), G. Croft, W. Cooper, J. B, Morton, and Mr Phillpot, who ably acted as accompanist. During the evening Mr J. W. Yiarren, the retiring secretary ot the branch, was presented with a handsome pair, ol -old sleeve links, suitably inscribed, as an acknowledgment of his four years service in that capacity.
