TE KUITI.

On Saturday, December 20th, Mrs and -Miss Melling held their annual Sundayschool picnic. The children assembled at Mr Melling's housfc at ten o'clock, when Mr Harry Hetet kindly drove them in his four-horse waggon two or three miles out to a very pretty spot in the Waitete Gorge, where they stayed all day having games, swinging, etc., until evenIng. On returning, at the house they sang several Christmas carols, after which each child received a small remembrance and 'Xmas card, and finished with singing "God Save the King" and giving cheers and thanks to Mrs and Miss Melling for their kindness.

On the evening of .Christmas Day a very bright and hearty church service was held in Hetet's Hall. The table and upper part of the hall was prettily decorated with ferns and flowers. At the end of the service, the Sunday-school children, assisted by the choir, sang Christmas carols. A large congregation attended. Mr Seymour, on behalf o-f the members of the choir and parents of the Sundayschool children and others, to mark their appreciation of Miss Melling's voluntary services as organist and Sunday-school teacher, presented her with a gold bracelet. He thanked Mr, Mrs and Miss Melling for their good work since they came to Te Kuiti.
