FASHION NOTES.
This is built on one of the Parisian shapes of transparent lace straw, which are so light that they will bend to the wind like a piece of gossamer. Some of the prettiest are of white and straw colour interwoven; they all have broad, floppy brims, and are generally lined throughout with a pale shade of tulle or chiffon, which gives a little more stability and the note of colour for the flowers or other trimming. The one in point is interwoven with cream and white, lined with white mousseline de soie, and edged with soft, hanging ecru lace flouncing, falling in a cascade at the back. The crown is swathed loosely with white mousseline caught together in the front by a buckle of paste brilliants. In our sketch we show the mesh of the lace straw, though the mousseline lining would, in reality, to a large extent obscure it. On the left side, under the brim, is a big chou of blush roses.
A stylish jacket ■which "will not crush a delicate bodice is always appreciated by a careful woman, and the Latona blouse meet all requirements. A shaped "belt is provided and the use of the peplum is optional. Fancy gimp, braid frogs and stitching give an artistic finish.
This pretty frock is distinguished by its box plaited French waist, which is supported by a lining. The •waist blouses prettily over the belt, and the full, straight skirt is sewed to the waist and finished at the lower edge with, a deep hem and cluster of tucks. The waist lining is faced to simulate a yoke, and the ruffles, which give the fashionably width to the shoulders, may be omitted. All manner of cotton, silk and woollen fabrics will make charming little frocks.
