(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, Friday,
The cricket match Wellington v. Canterbury was resumed to-day, and produced some sensational cricket, and plenty of it. Hickson 46, W. S. Hickson 13. In their second essay; however, the home team commenced disastrously, losing eight wickets for 43 runs. Boxshall, ,by.a bit of useful batting, augmented this to 70, but the total was a paltry one, for which the wicket was in no way responsible. The only double figure scores were made by Orchard (13), Strange (12), and Boxshall (17). Requiring 125 runs to win, Wellington's second essay opened almost as disastrously as Canterbury's, six wickets falling for 40 runs before time was called. C. Hickson scored 10, Williams 8. and W. I.' Hickson 9. The wicket was helping the bowlers a little at this stage, having grown somewhat twofaced.
