ARRESTS MADE

In connection with the safe robbery at Messrs Sutherland and Co.'s tannery, reported in our issue of yesterday, two, young men named George Taylor and John Kennedy were arrested last night by Constable O'Sullivan. They were charged at the Onehunga S.M. Court this morning- before Mr J. Rowe, J.P., with breaking and entering the premises of Messrs Sutherland and Co. on the 2nd inst. and stealing therefrom £29 19/ cash and cheques valued at £87 15/4. They were - further charged with breaking and entering the store of Mr Roy Hall, at Mangere, on- December 23, and stealing the sum of 21/ in cash and 34 packages of cigarettes, valued at £1 10/. Constable Tapp asked for a remand to Aiickland until Thursday next, which was granted. Bail was fixed at £250 each, but was not forthcoming.
