MELBOURNE, January 2
The Victorian cricket, team in their first innings against South Australia made 472, Ellis scoring- 118, and Hastings, not out, 106. They put up the record for the last vricket, adding 211. Jones took four wickets for 134, Trnvers three for 117, Claxton two for 72. South Australia lost four wickets for 222. Htyl, not out, .1.10, Claxton 37, and Gehrs, not out, 23, were the chief scorers.
