The South African meat contract ew pires on March 31. Particulars of the new contract have been advertised in the colony, but the response is not yet aseertainable. The Premier is eon** municatirig with the Officer Commanding in South Africa and Lord Milner on the subject. The Agent-General is also ia communication with the Colonial Office and the War Office, and has telegraphed to the Colonial Lecretary (Mr Chamber* lain) with reference to the matter.
