EASTERN EXTENSION COMPANY'S CABLE.

MELBOURNE, November 15

Srr E. Barton has re-opened negotiations with Mr Warren In regard to the proposed cable agreement between the Eastern Extension Company and the Commonwealth. It is unofficialy understood that there are good prospects of an early settlement which will result in a substantial reduction in rates to and from Eastern stations. Should the receipts keep up to the stipulated limit, a reduction; may also be made in European rates from the end of the year. As a test of the capabilities of the line, the Eastern Extension Company recently flashed a special message from Adelaide to* London and back in three minutes.
