THE MIRANDA.
Tlie tiny steamer Miranda, recently purchased by Messrs Bradney and Binns, of Auckland, arrived from Gisborne at 7 o'clock this morning. The vessel was built at the Bluff six years ago, especially for trade between that port and Stewart's Island. At different periods, she has been engaged in harbour work in several southern ports, and just prior to being transferred to her present owners, was used as a trawler at Gisborne. She is a vessel of 15 tons, ketch rigged, and of the following dimensions:—Length 35ft; breadth lift; and depth 6ft. The Miranda is capable of steaming 7 knots per hour, and will be used in conjunction with the firm's present fleet of steamers, the Vivid and Presto. She will be completely overhauled before being placed in commission. The vessel left Gisborne at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and experienced a strong S.E. gale to passing Alderman's Island, thence to arrival light S.S.E. winds.
