FATAL ACCIDENT.

X OLD MAN -TTT/LED.

An accident with fatal results otf* curred yesterday afternoon somewhere about Lower Queen-street* though so far the police have been unable to obtain any definite particulars of the occurrence. Constable Cahill was informed about three o'clock that an old man was lying seriously ill in the waiting room at the Northcote ferry tee. On going, there the constable found the old j man lying on one of the seats in.a g| dazed condition and bleeding from. H a wound in" the back of the head. He |j was just ahout aJble to tell the coil. * stable that his name was William. Porter, expressman, of Arch Hill, and, that he had fallen .out of his cart and was feeling ill. He then became unconscious, and the constable, seeing that he was suffering severely, from shock and in a precarious condition, ordered his removal to the hospitaL Porter died there about midnight, his skull having T_een fractured in..his fall. Constable Cahill made enquiries, but could obtain no definite information as to the accident, beyond deceased's statement. It is stated that the accident occurred in Queenstreet, but deceased's cart Was found in Little Queen-street, near the tee. ;
