JUMPING OFF CARS

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—The fatal accident, that cost a young fellow his life when jumping off a "bus the other day, reminds, me of a very narrow escape which I had some years ago when jumping from the front of one of the long tramcara. Thoughtlessly, instead of jumping in the same direction that the car was going, I did the reverse, with the result that the moment my feet touched the ground my head followed suit, but fortunately I was wearing a strong helmet hat at the time, which saved my liead, but my coat was ruined. Everyone thought that I would be killed, run over by the wheels, but personally I escaped, thus showing that the "deil's bairns, etc., hae aye their faither's luck.' —1 am, etc., AMICUS.
