THE BOER GENERALS.

(By Cable.—Press Association, Copyright.)

THE MANIFESTO.

LONDON, September 27,

The Boer g-enerals' manifesto met with a chilling reception on the Continent. Siome of the French and several German newspapers declare that it must be understood that any subscriptions are purely for charity and are in no wise aimed at Britain.

The Boer generals declare that they are astonished at the bad impression the -manifesto has produced in England. They had no intention to wound the feelings of the British.

Information from Boer sources shows that Dr. Leyds was the real author of the manifesto and that the generals merely signed it.

Botha and De la Bey, addressing meetings at Groningen, in Holland, deprecated the singing of the Yolkslied.

Mr Reitz's daughter has started for America.
