OHAUPO STOCK SALE.

A special sale of .Rukuhia stock was held on Thursday in Mr W. J. Hunter's yards," Ohaupo. There was a large attendance' of the public, buyers coming from the surrounding districts, also some from Auckland. About 500 head of cattle were offered, consisting of well-bred Herefords and Polled Angus, of all ages and sexes. Competition was good throughout. All the lots sold freely under the hammer.

The following are the quotations:— Cattle, yearling steers, £3 3/ to £3 7/; 2-year steers, £4 7/ to £4 16/; yearling heifers, £2 10/ to £2 15/; 18-month to 2-year heifers, £3 12/ to £3 17/; 3-year steers, fresh condition, £5 19/ to £6*ll/; empty cows from £4 4/ to £5 2/; cows with calves at foot and in calf, £4 4/ to £5 3/; steer calves, £2 2/; heifer calves, 32/. Sheep.—Only about 400 hoggets were offered; wether hoggets, 9/11 and 10/; ewe hoggets, 10/1. ' Horses: About 40 were brought forward and all of a real. good stamp, well-bred and in good condition. There was good competition for the several lots, both broken and unbroken, tlie principal buyers being local men,' only four horses going to Auckland. Mr Harry Rhodes, of Paterangi, secured the pick of the lot, the draught mare Jewel the Third, a prize winner, for which he gave £50. Mr Wm. Taylor also secured a good mare at £45. It Is satisfactory to know that such good stock are not leaving the district.- The-colts - and_ fillies wereya'nice lot, and were got by Ben Lomond, Royal Conqueror and Ben More, and elicited keen competition. the prices: Yearling colts and fillies, £15 to £27 10/; heavy draught mare, Jewel Third, £50, bought by Mr H. Rhodes; heavy draught mare, got by Royal Conqueror, £45, Mr Wm. Taylor; three and four-year-old colta and fillies, broken to chains only, £32 10/ to £38; station hacks, £17 5/ to £24.
