WAIHI

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

WAIHI, this day;

The mine manager of the Taupiri Coal Mines has written to the Town Clerk of Waihi asking for 15 or 20 coal-miners, who are required to increase the output to meet the extra demand for the winter. The manager stated that he had seen an advertisement re the labour market being overstocked at Waihi. There are many experienced coal-miners in Waihi, and no doubt they will be only too glad to go, considering the unsatisfactory state of affairs here.

Mr M. O'Keefe. President of the Miners' Union, was In Wcihi yesterday. The proposed sitting of the Arbitration Court here In connection with an alleg-ed breach of the award has been postponed, to suit the miners, till a later date.
