PUBLIC SCHOOLS ATTENDANCE ACT

EXEMPTION OF PRIVATE

SCHOOLS.

At the. Board of Education this morning three additional applications were received from the principals of private schools for exemption certificates under section 5 of the Public Schools Attendance Act.

Mrs E. Williams, principal of "The Willows Ladies' College," Wynyardstreet, in support of her application for exemption, stated that she had fifty pupils on the roll, and they were instructed in all branches of education. The stafi consisted of three resident and five visiting governesses, and several pupils had passed the Civil Service and matriculation examinations. She would be glad for her school to be visited by the inspectors of the Board. Miss Young, principal of th". Gleniveagh School, Grafton Road, submitted a letter from Mr J. R- Reed, who wrote that he had children attending the school, and the general instruction was regular and efficient.
