OTAGO RUGBY UNION.
DUNEDIN, Monday.
At a meeting of the Rugby Union Committee it was decided to instruct tne Otago delegates to move the following amendment to a motion on the orderpaper of the New Zealand Union for aspecial meeting:—" That the English Union be informed that the New Zealand Rugby Union is desirous of sending a ra? presentative football team to Great Britain, but that it will be impossible to get players to make the ,tour unless their dependents are provided for during their absence, which can only be done by public subscription: that the English Rugby Union be asked if it can make any suggestions as to how this difficulty can be overcome, so as to avoid conflict with the rules as to professionalism." It was decided to inform the Wairarapa Union that its request for Otago to play a > match against Wairarapa could not be complied with this year. Mr F. H. Campbell resigned his position as secretary, and Mr George Smith was appointed in his stead.
