WELLINGTON, this day

The Hon. the Acting-Premier, Sir Joseph Ward, was a passenger by the Government steamer Tutanekai, which left Wellington for Nelson at 11 o'clock last night. He will return on the morning of Thursday to preside at the welcome which is to be extended to the returned troopers who are coming by the U.S.S. Company's steamer Monowai.

Ministers have been in Cabinet all the afternoon engaged chiefly in departmental business.
