Drunkenness.—For this offence three first offenders were convicted and discharged, and anotaer, who did not appear, had to forfeit 10/ from his bail money.

Maintenance. —Thomas Bowden was ordered, by consent, to pay 6/ per week for the support of his illegitimate child, and also to pay costs. An order for the maintenance of a child was also made by consent against its grandfather.

Breach of the Infant Life Protection, Act. — Mrs Hammond was charged at the Court yesterdaj' afternoon with committing a breach of the Infant Life Protection Act. This morning- the mother of the child said that in reply to an advertisement in the daily papers she received a letter from the defendant. Witness wont several times to see defendant, who agreed to take the child for 10/ per week, and said she would adopt it if witness could get anything out of the father. Witness took the child to defendant next day. His Worship said he thought defendant should""be convicted, and lined her 40/ and costs.
