(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.

WAIHI, this day.

Quite a-stir was caused when the following message was received here on Saturday afternoon: " At the pressing request of the Secretary of the Department of Labour, Mr Tregear. the Arbitration Court has decided to hold a special emergency meeting at Waihi on the 19th of May. Mr Tregear represented to the Court that owing to a breach of the award the miners of Waihi stand to lose several hundred pounds a month."

!N. Haszard and His survey party had an unpleasant experience while camped at Te Puke Landing during the late storm. The water rose several feet above the river banks, and spread over the surrounding flats to a depth Of three feet. The only .means of exit from the house they were camped in was by a flatbottomed boat. Mr Haszard, who was conducting- a private survey in the locality, had in conseo.uence of the flooded country to abandon the work for the Vrae being and returned to Waihi.
