THE FARMERS' UNION

INVERCARGILL, this day.
At the Southland Provincial Conference of the Farmers' Union on Saturday, the following motions were adopted:—"That the Government be asked to carry the products of the land at railway rates on Lake Wakatipu when the Government steamer is provided;" "thathonorary members be charged half the ordinary entrance fee;" "that the Colonial Conference fix life members' fee." A draft of proposed rules for the union for submission to the Colonial Conference was approved after amendment. Mr John McQueen was elected president.
