At St. John's Church, Ponsonby, a lecture will be given to-morrow evening by the Rev, Hugh Kelly, M.A., in connection with the 25th anniversary. There being a slight outbreak of diphtheria in tbe Western Ponsonby district, Dr. Makgill, District, Health Officer, paid a visit to the Bayfield School on Friday last. He expressed the opinion that in the few cases that had occurred tbe infection had not been caught at tbe school, nor had school attendance caused the spread of the disease in any way. He considered, however, that to inspire confidence and reassure parents, it would be as well to have the buildings disinfected. This has been thoroughly done, for which purpose the school was closed to-day, but will be reope_te_L:taTmanymu. , ~, ~,..
