IN BANKRUPTCY.
In his statement of assets and liabilities David Leach, a bankrupt, states that his liability to creditors was £70 IS/, while his assets he set down at nil. He stated before the Official Assignee that he had been engaged «as a labourer at the Great Barrier mine, and his earnings during the last 12 months have not exceeded 25/ per week. He had a wife and ifour children dependent upon him. His debts were incurred in purchasing household goods, and his creditors knew that at the the time he was earning little money. Since the mine closed down, three months ago, he had been out of employment, ,
and had taken to gum-digging, but earned very little at it- He sold two horses about a month ago for £12, out of which money he paid his tiling fee. He had no assets beyond some furniture valued at £5 or £6.
