ST. MATTHEW'S CHURCH.

The ceremony of laying the foundation stone of St. Matthew's new church will be carried out to-mor-row, St. George's Day, by His Excellency the Governor. The ceremony will be performed with full Masonic honours. A choir of about 200 voices will, assist, and the Primate and clergy from Auckland and its vicinity will be present. The clergy and choir will leave the church shortly bafore noon, and proceed to the schoolroom to meet the Freemasons, the procession leaving for the present church at noon, meeting the Primate at the west door. After a brief sendee in the church, the procession will take up their position in the reserve allotted them, and on arrival of His Excellency the Governor at 12.30 p.m. the actual ceremony will commence with the singing of "The Old Hundredth." After the MasoEfic ceremonies are jcompfle'ted an invocation will be made by the Grand Chaplain, aft^r which His Excellency will deliver an address. This will be followed by a closing address by the.Primate and the Benediction. The stone to be laid weighs about a ton and a half. In the evening a 'conversazione will be held in the Choral Hall. >.
