WELLINGTON, Monday,

The Premier advises the Defence Department that Private Sievers, of Wellington, of the Tenth. Contingent, fell on the voyage to Sydney in the Drayton Grange, and hurt his back. He will have to stay in the hospital at Sydney for. a couple of weeks. Mr W. J. A. Thomson, of Kemuera, has been appointed assistant paymaster to the South Island Battalion of the Tenth Contingent. Mr Thomson has left for Sydney by the s.s. Mararoa to join the troopship Norfolk at Sydney.
