SUPPOSED SUICIDE.

Yesterday at half-past one it was reported to the police by a man named John Archibald that the body of ah old man named John Broughton, aged 73 years, had been found in the Whau Creek. Constable Gordon, of Avondale, went out and recovered the body, aod on examination a cut was found on the throat, and also on the breast, which might have been caused by the point of a pocketknife. Deceased, who was an old age pen--1 sioner, lived at Avondale with his \ wife, and was last seen alive by her ■at seven o'clock on Saturday night at ibis home, Mrs Broughton going- to ijhe store at that time.
