FATAL TRAM ACCIDENT

CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday.
When the 7 o'clock tram was coming down from Papahui to town last night, near the North Belt, a young woman named Mary Brown, 23 years of age, endeavoured to jump off while tne cars were in motion. She fell, and the tram went over both legs, inflicting frightful injuries. She was taken to the hospital in the ambulance van, but died shortly after midnight. She was the daughter of >J_r. Peter Brown, Akaroa, and niece of Mr. Campbell Brown, Lyitelton. An inquest willbe held to-morrow,
