Sir H. S. Berkeley, Chief Justice of Fiji, gave his judgment in the application for a writ of habeas corpus of Eatu Savanaca, who had been, deported to the island of Na Yau, the alleged offence being that he incited the natives to petitioii in ■favour of federation with New Zealand- The judgment, which was a very lengthy one, concluded by making the rule for habeas corpus to bring up before the Court the body of Eatu Savanaca absolute, and that Eatu Savanaca be forthwith discharged firom confinement without --siting for a return of the writ of .4 be cis corpus. , '.. ■■;',,
