THE PREMIER PICNIC.

The tenth, annual Premier Picnic in connection wit_h tiie JVianchester Unity of oauteilows, which was held at Motutapu on Saturday last, was in every respect a successful gathering, and the. thousands who assembled on the island spent a most enjoyaule day. Country memoers of the Order and friends arrived from various districts in large numbers, and the steamers arriving- irom Waipu, Wade, Warkworth, Waiwera, Howick, Panmure Bridge, Turanga Creek, coromandel, Thames, and I Jaeroa accounted for their full quota of excursionists. In the foreshore refreshment booths, in large numbers, a Punch and Judy show, and a photographers' tent, wherein your photo could be taken with remarkable dispatch, nad been erected, and throughout the day were largely attended. The children were very liberal in their patronage of the Punch and Judy tent, which, for the youngsters, was. probably the greatest attraction on the ground. Throughout the day the Karangahake band, under Bandmaster H. R. Robinson, rendered excellent music. The secretaries (Bros. Albert H. J. Rider, P.P.G.M., and Carl Westphal, P.G.) were energetic officials, and to them and a, strong committee is largely due the completeness of the arrangements and the efficient manner in which they were carried out.

During the forenoon races were run off by the children, and in the afternoon the sports' programme was gone through.
